Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period like this with results so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
