And the 25-year-old Premier League striker did it in sensational style, registering 16 goals in eight World Cup qualifying matches - finding the back of the net consistently in all those encounters.
That makes him the top scorer in 2026 World Cup qualification in any continent.
Additionally, his squad's 4-1 win against Italy on Sunday, featuring a Haaland brace, ensures they will playing in next summer's World Cup in North America.
Haaland, speaking afterwards: "I'm happy, but more relieved. There's significant pressure and factors, and I sense it. But it's fun."
This marks only their fourth World Cup, and their premier global event since Euro 2000.
The Crucial Role Did Haaland Play?
His goal tally for Norway is nothing short of phenomenal.
He has hit 55 goals in 48 matches for Norway.
Additionally he is just the sixth footballer ever, and the premier in half a century, to register 50 finishes in under 50 international games.
The team's earlier leading goalscorer was Jorgen Juve with 33 goals, who held that record for nine decades.
Throughout these preliminary games he scored 16 goals - in eight games - plus two setup passes.
This represents twice the goal count any other player has registered in European qualifying.
He remains the top scorer in these preliminary games in any continent, including areas where teams play twice as more games.
Beyond a full year has gone by since Haaland most recently didn't net in a game for Norway.
Collective Performance Alongside Haaland
But it is not only about Haaland.
Skipper Martin Odegaard, 26, has more assists than any other player in UEFA qualification - seven assists.
The Gunners playmaker has made 67 appearances for Norway since his initial cap at the tender age of fifteen.
"Combine Haaland's success with the fact that in this generation we furthermore feature Martin Odegaard," commented an analyst.

Historical Significance of Successful Qualification
For the premier occasion in many years Norway followers will witness the excitement of backing their national side in worldwide event.
Norway featured in the World Cups in 1938, 1994 and 1998, and the 2000 Euros.
Erling's dad, Alf Inge Haaland, participated in the 1994 World Cup.
The striker has mentioned before exceeding his dad represented a significant personal target for him.
"Norway will not win the World Cup," Haaland Jr told a major publication recently.
Escaping Historical Oversight
Haaland's participation in the global tournament with Norway means he avoids his inclusion on the roster of legendary footballers who never featured in one.
Three best player awardees never managed to participate in the global tournament.
